Listening to Captain Ordinary takes me right back to my high school days—when love was new, and we stuffed our youth into baggy pants. “Speed” and “passion” are the perfect words to describe their music: tight arrangements and violently satisfying riffs and drumming. If the last generation of Taiwanese punk icons was led by Fire EX. and Punkhoo, then Captain Ordinary is without a doubt a name on this era’s list.

Highly recommended for a full-on mosh—let’s crash into each other!

◇ A-Chang from Core Point band ◇

Japanese director Satoshi Miki’s film Turtles Are Surprisingly Fast Swimmers explores an interesting theme: "ordinariness." In it, a plain housewife (played by Juri Ueno) is chosen to become a spy precisely because she’s so unremarkable. The film is filled with subtle humor—nothing over the top. Life is like that too: strangely amusing.

People often chase after a life as dazzling as fireworks, but in reality, we strive for the middle ground—neither hot nor cold, like a litmus test that always lands at neutral. Skincare? Diet? In the end, we all pick the "neutral" option. If you relate to this kind of rambling nonsense, you should definitely listen to Captain Ordinary’s new album Love and Courage. They’re like the moon, endlessly cycling and spinning. The emotional phases you see are your own—

Their punk youth is their own outburst— The rush of adrenaline you feel is your own illusion. This album is honestly so ordinary— But they absolutely deserve to put the word "Captain" after "Ordinary."
